Daksha Legal: A Home-Grown Platform Rising to Prominence in Online Legal Reporting - K G Raghavan, Senior Advocate.

  • 21-January-2026 22:29

Acquisition of knowledge is the core of the practice of law. Knowledge is an ocean. And it is samudramathana all the time. New waves of knowledge emerge submerging existing ones and this goes on and on and forever. In this ever churning ocean of knowledge, tenets of administration and governance have to berth and law and order has to prevail and that consistently in all walks of life . Courts, judges and lawyers have a crucial role to play in the maintenance of this system of law and order in society.

Today, in the field of law there is a tsunami of information in the form of judge-made law amidst myriad statutes, not to mention the plethora of subordinate pieces of legislation. In India, with an activist higher fora of judiciary we have judgments interpreting the various laws on a day to day basis. It is a challenge to keep pace with them. But there is no option but to face it. For this we need efficient search engines.

Initially, printed book reports served the purpose. But viewed from today’s point of view it was too slow and arduous. This field of activity was quick to embrace technology. Thus emerged online reporting. At the start there were just one or two such tools. And sadly none from the south of India.

Just five years ago an online reporting platform named Dasksha legal with its innovators based in Bengaluru was established. Since then Daksha legal has been very active and reporting judgments of the Apex Court and the High Court of Karnataka on several branches of law. The headnotes are illuminating and instructive. The reporting is prompt helping seekers to keep track of the developments in the various fields of law efficiently and on time. It makes me very proud that a home grown legal platform has today acquired a prominent position in the community of online legal reporters and is accessed widely and actively. Rightfully it is much in demand and commands respect both from within the legal community and without.

I have personally benefitted from the reporting of Daksha legal. Many times when I mention the latest cases decided by the Supreme Court and the High Court of Karnataka, I am asked by my colleagues as to how I keep track. My constant answer is “Daksha Legal”. I commend Daksha Legal to one and all who are desirous of keeping themselves relevant.

I wish the team God’s speed and shall look forward to the continued progress and success of their wonderful effort and to benefit from their research and diligence.
