The Returning Officer suspends 79 Bar Council of Delhi Candidates for violation of Code of Conduct.

The returning officer, Bar Council of Delhi elections-2026 has suspended totally 79 candidates on the allegation of violation of code of conduct. The order dated 22 February 2026 reads thus: 


WHEREAS, despite the categorical advisories and strict warnings issued yesterday and today, asking the candidates to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct and Election Rules, 2023, the Election Committee has received and verified, incontrovertible evidence including

field reports of gross violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by certain candidates, whose names and other material particulars are mentioned in the list annexed as Annexure-A.

AND WHEREAS, the infractions include rampant sloganeering, in close vicinity of polling area, distribution of campaign leaflets, setting up of tents, display of flex hoarding, deployment o f unauthorized outsiders, resulting in physical obstructions i n the movement of Voters, thereby wilfully defying the mandate o f the Election Rules and MCC.

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the plenary powers vested in the Election Committee to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process, the candidature of the following SEVENTY NINE (Two Lists 12 plus 67) CANDIDATES are hereby placed under SUMMARY SUSPENSION, with immediate effect.

The suspended candidates can appeal against this order within 12 hours from now.
